Падна B777-200 на Malaysia Airlines

Post by IgorMKD »

Многу лошо :(
Malaysia Airlines loses contact with jet
Plane carrying 239 passengers, 2 of them infants

(CNN) - A passenger flight carrying 239 people en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing is missing, Malaysia Airlines said Saturday.

The airline said in a statement that Subang Air Traffic Control in Malaysia lost contact with Flight MH370 at 2:40 a.m. (1:40 p.m. ET Friday).

The Boeing 777-200 departed Kuala Lumpur at 12:41 a.m. and was expected to land in Beijing at 6:30 a.m., a 2,300-mile (3,700 kilometer) trip.

It was carrying 227 passengers, two of them infants, and 12 crew members, it said.

"Malaysia Airlines is currently working with the authorities who have activated their Search and Rescue team to locate the aircraft," the statement said. The public can call +603 7884 1234 for further information.

The airline operates in Southeast Asia, East Asia, South Asia, the Middle East and on the route between Europe and Australasia.

The airline's roots date back to 1937, when it operated passenger and cargo flights in Malaysia.

In April 1942, it was incorporated as Malaysia Airways Limited; it later became Malaysia Airlines.

The airline has its headquarters and registered office at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, Malaysia, and its main airline hub is at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, according to its website.

The airline's website said the flight was piloted by a veteran. Capt. Zaharie Ahmad Shah, a 53-year-old Malaysian, has 18,365 total flying hours and joined Malaysia Airlines in 1981, the website said. The first officer is Fariq Ab Hamid, 27, a Malaysian with a total of 2,763 flying hours. He joined Malaysia Airlines in 2007.

Malaysia Airlines operates in Southeast Asia, East Asia, South Asia, the Middle East and on the route between Europe and Australasia. It has 15 Boeing 777-200 ER planes in its fleet, CNN's Richard Quest reported. The missing airplane was delivered to Malaysia Airlines in 2002.

If this aircraft has crashed with a total loss, it would the deadliest aviation incident since November 2001, when an American Airlines Airbus A300 crashed in Belle Harbor, Queens, shortly after takeoff from JFK Airport. Killed were 265 people, including five people on the ground.

Missing MAS 777-200 had no major prior incidents
By: GREG WALDRON SINGAPORE

The Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200ER bearing registration 9M-MRO had a history free of major incidents prior to its disappearance on 8 March. However the aircraft was reportedly involved in a minor ground collision two years ago which resulted in significant damage to a wingtip.

According to Flightglobal’s Ascend Online Fleets database, 9M-MRO bears manufacturer serial number 28420 and its line number is 404.It was ordered in January 1996, and MAS elected to change the variant in 1998. In November 2002 the carrier conducted a sale & leaseback transaction for the aircraft with Penerbangan Malaysia Berhad. The completion of the aircraft’s finance term is due in 31 May 2014.

The aircraft reportedly suffered a ground incident in August 2012 when its wingtip collided with the tail of a China Eastern Airlines Airbus A340 while taxiing in Shanghai. This incident is not recorded by the Ascend accident database which generally does not include minor events where the insurance claim is less than the deductible (for widebodies this is $1 million). The Aviation Safety Network reports that the 777's wing tip broke off and "hung on the tail" of the A340.

According to Ascend, the 777's minor variant is 777-2H6ER. It is powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 892 engines, and its maximum take-off weight is 632,500lbs.

It is configured with 35 business and 247 economy class seats.

BRAKING NEWS:
Two people who traveled on the missing Malaysian Airlines flight under the passports of an Italian and an Austrian citizen appear to have bought their tickets together, according to China's official e-ticket verification system Travelsky. The tickets were bought from China Southern Airlines in Thai baht at identical prices. The ticket numbers are contiguous, which indicates the tickets were issued together.

Crews looking for a Malaysia Airlines plane expand their search after radar recordings indicate the jet turned back before vanishing.

BEIJING — A Singaporean vessel participating in the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane has informed Vietnamese authorities that it has found some “suspicious objects” that may be from the missing aircraft, Vietnamese media said Sunday afternoon.
It was not immediately clear where the objects were discovered or what they were. Aircraft and ships were searching an area of some 3,900 square miles off the southern tip of Vietnam in the waters of the Gulf of Thailand and the South China Sea.
