A bill seeking to revise certain aspects of the Florida State Guard contains a provision that would allow for the agency to operate outside of the state’s borders. Rep. Mike Giallombardo, R-Cape Coral, sponsored the legislation, HB 1551, and explained the details of it during a Tuesday meeting of the House Subcommittee on Local Administration, Federal Affairs, and Special Districts, where it ultimately passed 11-3.

Rep. Dan Daley, D-Coral Springs, questioned if the guard could then be sent to the U.S-Mexico border if a border state, such as Texas, had an agreement with Florida.
Giallombardo responded, saying that “yes,” that could in fact happen.

Besides the expansion of potential geographical space to cover, the bill provides the state guard the same legal protections and immunities that the National Guard receives.

Greg Abbott Urged To 'Fully Militarize' Texas State Guard To Counter Biden

A leading Texan nationalist has urged Governor Greg Abbott to dramatically expand and militarize the Texas State Guard if President Biden federalizes the Texas National Guard, as some Democrats are demanding, in response to the ongoing border crisis.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, Daniel Miller, president of the Texas Nationalist Movement (TNM) which campaigns for the Lone Star State to declare independence from the U.S., called on Abbott to radically expand the State Guard and place them along the Mexican border if the National Guard is federalized.

He said: "If Biden federalizes the Texas National Guard, Greg Abbott should immediately throw enlistment in the Texas State Guard WIDE OPEN, fully militarize them, and deploy them as a Border Protection Force along the entire border."

Where this may matter most in the coming days is if Biden attempts to federalize the National Guards.

Trying to overrule one governor is one thing. Trying to overrule more than half the country standing in formal support is something else altogether.

: For those who don’t catch the subtext to what Lt Gov Patrick is saying here, it’s a pretty implicit threat that an attempt to use force by the Federal government will be met by force in turn on the part of Texas. This follows the Governor of Oklahoma making similar threats the other day, alluding to the possibility of State forces getting into combat with their Federal counterparts.

The implications of what this all means are starting to become obvious to all. If the Federal government responds, it risks an escalation that will spiral into civil war. If they don’t, then for the first time in American history the States of the U.S. will have successfully established a precedent of Nullification, resulting in an erosion of central authority.

There are no good options for Washington at the present.
